We’ve added Frisian (Frysk) — a West Germanic language spoken in the northern Netherlands, especially in the province of Friesland.
Frisian holds a special place in Europe’s linguistic landscape. It is officially recognized in the Netherlands — and it is the closest living language to English. In fact, some Frisian sentences look surprisingly familiar to English speakers.
Now on Qlango, you can explore a language with deep roots, strong regional identity, and a proud literary tradition.
At CEFR A1–A2, you’ll gain real-life communication skills from the very first lessons.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Say hello: Hoi
-
Introduce yourself: Ik hjit… (My name is…)
-
Buy groceries at a local shop
-
Order food and drinks
-
Speak about family and relationships
-
Describe people, appearance, and personality
-
Discuss work, school, and daily routines
-
Talk about animals and nature
-
Navigate travel situations
-
Express actions, feelings, and opinions
By the end of A2, you’ll be able to hold simple conversations and understand the rhythm of a language that feels both familiar and unique.
