Pattani Malay (Jawi Script)

We’ve added Pattani Malay, a variant of Malay written in the beautiful Jawi script, an Arabic-based writing system. Closely related to standard Malay, Pattani Malay is spoken by around 3.5 million people in Thailand’s Pattani region.

Approximately 3.5 million people speak this language in Thailand’s Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces, and it plays a crucial role in preserving the identity and heritage of the Malay Muslim community in southern Thailand.

With this addition, Qlango learners can now explore a language that bridges Malay and Arabic traditions, connecting centuries of trade, religion, and culture.
